Admissions

We are always excited when new children come and become part of our Saint John's community.  We would love to hear from you if you are looking for a school for your family to join!

Admission into any year groups:

Pupils of all ages join us at Saint John's during the year (as well as in September) and, if you are interested in joining us, we would be pleased to help you arrange this.

We suggest the following actions if you are looking for a place in a school: 

1. Telephone or email Saint John's to find out if there is a space for the age of your child.  Our number is 01242 523786 and our email is admin@st-johns-pri.gloucs.sch.uk.
2. Ideally, visit the school so that you know a little more about the school.  For Saint John's, this means meeting with our head teacher and having a tour of our classrooms and playgrounds.
3. Parents/Carers then complete an in-year application form. See below for a copy.
4. Take or send this application to the school: admin@st-johns-pri.gloucs.sch.uk

Once you have applied to the school, we will contact you to let you know if we can offer you a place. Sometimes, your child can start straight away; sometimes, they have to start a bit later.  We will explain the arrangements for starting in the school when we meet with you.

Admission into the first year of school - Reception:

If you are considering joining us in Reception when your child reaches school age, please do come and visit us!

We do not have a nursery at Saint John's, so our children come from a range of nurseries. We have strong, positive relationships with all the nurseries connected to Saint John's. Both the head teacher and the Reception teacher visit the nurseries regularly and we invite nursery children to events at Saint John's. There are also a number of children who have not been to nursery or a child-minder at all; we are experienced at helping children settle into their first educational setting.

Because we are a small school, we are able to accommodate visits at any time in the year. You will have the opportunity to meet with the head and other relevant staff and to see around the school.  We have a wonderful Reception classroom with free-flow into our outside Green Garden with all sorts of different play activities available!

Once you have looked at different schools, you will need to inform the County Council of your choice; this involves giving a number of preferences.  The County Council then allocates children to their school.  As a school, we do not make this decision.  However, we are very willing to help you through the process; please just be in touch with the school office: 01242 523786 admin@st-johns-pri.gloucs.sch.yk
