New Reception Class September 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Saint John’s CE Primary School. We are absolutely delighted that your child will be joining us in September and hope this will be the start of a long and successful partnership.
Under normal circumstances, there would be opportunities, such as play sessions and a parent meeting, for you and your child to meet us during the Summer term to ensure a smooth transition. Unfortunately, as things stand, it is still unclear what will be allowed and advisable during this Summer Term.
Currently, we are planning for an event for parents and carers which will ensure that they can visit the school and meeting Ms Griffiths, the Reception class teacher, and other relevant staff. Certainly, I am keen to meet each of our new children and to get to know their families. Our intention is that Ms Griffiths will be calling you in June to introduce herself and have a chat about your child. As we are unable to visit Pre-School Settings, we will also be ringing key workers to gather information as we build a picture of your child and how we can prepare for them joining the school in September.
Below we have attached some useful information to help you gain an undertanding. There may be a few changes for September 2021, as we are still awaiting government guidelines, but much of the information is still very relevant as you prepare for this time. We have also included a lovely story about starting school: 'Suzie Starting School'. We hope you and your child will enjoy sharing this story together. The author produces a whole series of stories on different adventures: http://www.suziebooks.co.uk
We want to make your child’s start to Saint John’s Primary School a wonderfully positive experience and a smooth one for yourselves.
We look forward to meeting you very soon.

Sorry that I didn't quite get the volume right! Hopefully, though, these give a little idea of what Saint John's will be like in September!
Below are some videos of Ms Griffiths reading stories. We think the children will enjoy watching and listening!
